Long before the Don Berty Stage, the concession stand, the restrooms, and the pavilions, there was a dream. A dream of a day when our community would come together, celebrate in unity, and enjoy Cecil Township amenities. Sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Board of Don Berty, John Taylor, Alan Barni, Paul Pozonsky, John Engel, and Bruce Walker, along with Cecil Postmaster Arlene Curry and a host of others, the dream turned into a reality. This is another great example of the right idea, at the right time, in the right place.
Originally named Cecil Township Fall Festival, the first festival opened at 8:30 am on Saturday, October 15, 1988, in Cecil Park. A full day of events showcasing the talents of many Cecil Township residents and friends including a 10k race, hot air balloon rides, skateboard tricks, classic cars, Cecil Junior High band and cheerleaders, The Canon McMillan Big Mac Band, The Senior Citizens Dance, and Drill Team, and others.
