Did You Know…
Cecil Township Ordinance 02-2014 prohibits shoveling snow and other debris onto a public street before or after our Public Works crew has cleared the roadway. Codified in Section 206-20 and 21, the text is as follows (Code of Ordinances):
“Any persons or entities, including any owners, occupants, tenants or persons acting under the direction of or under the authorization of such persons or entities, are prohibited from depositing, discharging or causing to be deposited any snow, ice, slush, water, refuse, grass, dirt, mud, trees or parts of trees, or any other debris, or combination thereof, (obtained from any place) on any public road, street, highway or alley in the Township.” (Further supported by Section 140-101)
Section 206-21 imposes fines for violations of Section 206-20 as follows:
Any persons or entities, including any owners, occupants, tenants, or persons acting under the direction of or under the authorization of such persons or entities, who deposit or cause to be deposited or discharged any snow, ice, slush, water, refuse, grass, dirt, mud, trees or parts of trees, or any other debris, or a combination thereof, on any public snow, street, highway or alley in the Township shall be guilty of the commission of a summary offense and shall, upon conviction for every such offense, pay a fine of not less than $50 nor more than $1,000 including costs.
In order for our Public Works Department to plow the roads properly, there is no parking on the streets listed in Section 226-33 of the Code of Ordinances.
Please help our Public Works personnel keep our community roads clean, safe, and free of snow and other debris throughout the year.
Thank you for doing your part!
